Web apps

A web app is a fantastic cross between a mobile-friendly website and a traditional app

A web app is a great alternative to a traditional app if you want to be able to work on any mobile phone, yet still want the app-style benefits of home screen icons and offline capability.

Our easy2 web apps have device recognition built in, and are compatible with all mainstream mobile phones (including Windows and BlackBerry), plus tablets, computers and even SmartTVs.image of easy2 web app logo

How it works > How it looks > What it costs

Easy2 web apps make use of leading edge HTML5 techniques combined with our own unique device recognition chameleon software. This combination provides for a highly flexible solution that is free from the typical constraints and costs associated with apps, yet provides offline capability and direct homescreen access unlike a traditional website.

Web app accessed as a normal web URL

Just as with any website, the web app is accessed by going to its web address.

This can be linked to from your main site, or using QR codes / NFC tags on posters, business cards or flyers.

Unlike normal websites, your content is available even OFFLINE

Your web app saves its content into the browser memory, allowing it to be viewed when offline – such as in flight modeflight-mode.

When online, content updates are offered automatically to your users when they next open the app.

How it works > How it looks > What it costs

There is a great deal of design flexibility with an easy2 web app:

appcache-home-screenHow your easy2 web app looks is very much up to you.

We would recommend using an existing template structure, as it provides automatically for a number of features to be presented appropriately to the user, such as the opening “add to home screen / pin to start” facility and the fixed buttons in the footer.

We can incorporate a good number of design elements when customising the templates, and it keeps the cost and delivery times down.

However, time and budget notwithstanding, you can have a fully customised bespoke web app should you desire one, as we can integrate the easy2 web app technology into alternative site structures.

Adjusting designs for specific platforms

As all devices receive the same product, the cost per platform is highly competitive. But because the easy2 web app includes a specific version of our chameleon device recognition software, you can adjust the look, and the content, for specific devices.

The example below shows the same site settings page on two different platforms:

This web app was made for the Buckinghamshire County Sports Partnership (Leap), and incorporated a few new facets.

  • Firstly, the colour scheme is quite different from the dark blue background used above, although the essential structure is the same.
  • Secondly, one of the pages is configured to run an activity search on their main site, and
  • Thirdly, the home screen footer has been amended to incorporate a promotional message (in this case concerning National Walking Month – May 2016)

This runs a mobile banner animation on smaller screen devices, and a larger traditional banner animation on bigger screen tablets and PCs.

The promotional banner feature was carried across to a number of other pages, and incorporates an option we call a “tracking pin” which counts each time the message is shown.

Our easy2 web apps can be built to suit, so prices below are indicative:

Prices start from a competitive £1,200 and include up to 8 pages of content, design of your homescreen icon and customisation of the web app design and colourway. Your app will be good to go on Apple iPhones and iPads, Android phones and tablets, Windows mobile and BlackBerry operating systems, as well as PCs and SmartTVs.

Hosting of your web app with Big Media is just £10 per month, payable quarterly or annually in advance.
